2022 Winter Programming

Here’s a listing of what the Stonebridge Community Association will be offering this Winter.

PROGRAMS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE –  PLEASE REFER TO OUR WEBSITE FOR THE MOST UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION.

Online sign up will begin Monday, December 13th, 2021 and end on Friday, January 7th, 2022. There will be no in-person payment drop-off, so if you require assistance, please email ourstonebridge.programs@gmail.com.  A non-refundable membership fee of $10 per family per year is required to participate in programs and must be purchased or presented at the time of program sign-up (memberships expire each year on July 31st). A fee of $15 will apply to late registrations.

Programs may change.  Please consult the website for the latest program information.

SCA honours other community association memberships.  Cost-as-a-barrier assistance and/or KidSport applications are available for those facing financial hardships.  To inquire/apply, please contact Alena at ourstonebridge.info@gmail.com or ask a volunteer at payment drop-off night.  All inquiries are kept confidential.

REFUND POLICY

A $15.00 administration fee will be assessed for all refund requests. Refunds cannot be issued after the first session of the program you registered for has begun. Refunds requested for mini-soccer (U5, U7, U9), more than a week after registration closes, and especially after we have paid our fees to Saskatoon Youth Soccer (generally paid two weeks after registration closes), will not be approved.

KIDS PROGRAMMING

TIPPY TOES

This program is designed to spark a love of dance in your young dancer! VIBE’s preschool program is a 60 minute combo class; 30 minutes of ballet and 30 minutes of jazz. Your little dancer will have so much fun learning and twirling on their “tippy toes!” Ages 3-4.

HIP HOP

Get your VIBE on with this grooving 60-minute Hip Hop class. This fun class will explore different styles and introduce you to the world of Hip Hop. Ages 5-7.

ART FOR KIDS

Introducing children to simple fundamental drawing skills and understanding. Ages 6-12.

Tuesdays 6:00pm-7:30pm
Dates: February 1 to March 29 (No class February 22)
Location: Community Resource Room, Chief Whitecap School
Cost: $50 plus materials (kids should bring their own sketchbook or notebook and pencils to class)

INTRO TO KARATE (YOUTH AGES 7-8)

You will be introduced to the fundamentals of Traditional Karate Punching / Blocking Kicking / StancesKata (the encyclopedia of Traditional Karate) and basic Kumite (sparring), all of which are required for your first belt evaluation.

INTRO TO KARATE (YOUTH AGES 9-14)

You will be introduced to the fundamentals of Traditional Karate Punching / Blocking Kicking / StancesKata (the encyclopedia of Traditional Karate) and basic Kumite (sparring), all of which are required for your first belt evaluation.

STAY SAFE!

Real-world scenarios often call on children to respond to challenges. The Stay Safe! program teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills, while increasing and reinforcing a youth’s capacity to improve their own safety. Whether in their community or on their own, this group will be given better tools to Stay Safe! in a variety of different situations. Aimed at children 9 – 13 years old who are preparing to be able to stay safe at home on their own.

BABYSITTING COURSE

The babysitting course, refreshed and revised, now has a greater emphasis on First Aid skills. The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course covers everything from managing difficult behaviours to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter. Babysitting promises to deepen and enhance the responsibility that older youth feel when caring for younger children. This updated curriculum, complete with new science, also provides improved learning when it comes to giving the appropriate care in the event of an emergency. Aimed at children 11* – 16 years old and interested in taking responsibility for younger children.

KINDER SOCCER

Learning basic soccer skills while having fun! Coaches are needed – please consider signing up to coach when registering (no experience necessary).

* For kids born in 2018 & 2019 only.  Choose either Tuesday 6pm – 6:45pm, Wednesday 6pm – 6:45pm, or Thursday 6pm – 6:45pm.

Dates: Tuesdays – January 25 to March 22 (no session February 22); Wednesdays –January 26 to March 23 (No session February 23); Thursdays – January 27 to March 31 (No session February 24, March 17, March 24).

ADULT PROGRAMMING

SCULPT & TONE

Want to tighten those holiday muscles? Join us as we plank, lunge and squat our way back into shape! For beginners and advanced participants.

YOGA

An introductory class for those who have little to no experience with yoga, or for experienced students who want to bring it back to basics. Ages 16+.
*Participants are required to bring their own yoga mats and runners.

HIGH FITNESS

HIGH Fitness is an emerging leader in group fitness, inspiring people from all walks of life to a lifestyle with better health and overall wellness. HIGH transforms old school aerobics into a highly addictive new fitness experience that combines simple, modern fitness techniques (i.e. HIIT, plyometrics, etc.) with music you know and love. This results in a high energy, INTENSE and crazy fun workout that leaves participants feeling HIGH and wanting more. Ages 16+.

PILATES

Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates emphasizes proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance. Pilates is named for its creator, Joseph Pilates, who developed the exercises in the 1920s. Pilates – beginner to intermediate level. A modernized version of Pilates to improve your strength, flexibility and posture. Ages 16+.

DROP-IN PROGRAMS

BADMINTON

Courts and birdies provided – no scheduled games – just come along, singly or in pairs/groups and arrange a game with other participants.

Mondays 8:00pm-10:00pm
Dates: January 17 to March 28 (No session February 21 & March 7)
Location: Multi-purpose Room, Chief Whitecap School
Cost: $25 per participant

PICKLEBALL

Courts and nets provided – no scheduled games – just come along, singly or in pairs/groups and arrange a game with other participants. Aimed at adults, but children are welcome when accompanied by an adult (18+).
*Program is in partnership with South Nutana Park Community Association.

Beginner:

Location: Prince Philip School Gym

Advanced:

VOLLEYBALL

Courts and nets provided – no scheduled games – just come along, singly or in pairs/groups and arrange a game with other participants.
